Matt Stahl (University of Western Ontario) presents "My Future Is My Past: The Political-Economic Liminality of Popular Music Occupations." Stahl studies the representation (in mass media) and regulation (in and by law) of culture-making. With a current focus is on popular music making in the U.S., he is working on a book that focuses on musical work--on TV, in rockumentary film, and as governed by labor and copyright law.
