About: In its fourteenth year, the New Student Reading Project is an important rite of passage for all Cornell students. Over the summer before arriving on campus, all incoming students read the same book. At orientation, students discuss Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio in small Reading Project Seminars led by faculty and staff. Throughout the year, students participate in other special events based on the selection's themes, allowing students to explore a wide range of ideas and cultural issues with faculty and students from colleges and schools across the university.
