Communicators@cornell Meeting with Ithaca Mayor Myrick to Discuss Town-Gown Communications

Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 12:00pm to 1:00pm

102 Mann Library

The science of town-gown relations can be inexact at best, but thanks to one of America's most dynamic young mayors, and collaborative Cornell communication strategies, campus-community progress is being made on many fronts in Ithaca.

On Thursday, September 19, please join communicators@cornell, City of Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick, City Clerk Julie Holcomb, and Cornell's Director of Community Relations Gary Stewart for an inside look at town-gown communications, which play out, often quietly, on a daily basis.

Earlier this year, Myrick and Stewart  presented at the International Town-Gown Association's (ITGA) annual conference on the importance of establishing standing town-gown meetings that aren't held in response to challenges or even crises. The presentation was prefaced by a specially produced video from Cornell University Communications titled   "Where We Live"    and both will be shown at our meeting.

This session will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, in 102 Mann Library, just off the lobby. No need to RSVP. Space is limited to 70 people. Meetings are BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch). Grab lunch, a snack, or coffee at Manndible Cafe, just steps away.
