CCCC Digital Humanities Workshop

Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 2:30pm to 5:30pm

Rockefeller Hall, 374 Asian Studies Lounge
Central Campus

The third Cornell Classical Chinese Colloquium of the Fall 2018 semester will be given by Professor Michael Stanley-Baker from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore on Wednesday, November 21 from  2:30-5:30 in the Asian Studies Lounge of Rockefeller Hall.

Professor Stanley-Baker's CCCC will double as a workshop in digital humanities - in particular, he will be showing participants new ways to mine online databases for Chinese Studies.

At each session one participant presents a text in classical or literary Chinese. Attendees discuss historical, literary, linguistic, and all other aspects of the text, and work together to resolve difficulties in comprehension and translation. Presentations include works of all sorts, from the earliest times to the twentieth century.

No preparation required: all texts will be distributed at the meeting
