Book talk: Sage Hall Experiments in Coeducation and Preservation
Friday, June 8, 2012 at 1:30pm to 2:30pm
Sage Hall, B08 Johnson Graduate School-Management, 106 Sage Hall, Ithaca, NY 14853-6201, USA
Built as a women’s residence in 1874, Sage Hall was financed and endowed by Henry Sage on the condition that Cornell University would provide education for women equal to that of Cornell men. In a Reunion 2012 book talk, authors Jennifer Cleland and Robert Stundtner draw from their book, "Sage Hall: Experiments in Coeducation and Preservation at Cornell," to weave together the history of the early feminist movement in upstate New York, the legacy of social reformism among Cornell founders, and the story of the late 1990’s Sage Hall renovation project. Book signing will follow the author’s presentation. Free and open to the public.
