Title:  Topological Insulators and Superconductors

Host:  Eun-Ah Kim

Abstract:  In this talk, I will first give a brief overview on topological insulators and superconductors, and review the theoretical predictions which led to the experimental observations of the 2D and 3D topological insulators. I will then discuss the theoretical prediction and the experimental observation of the quantum anomalous Hall effect in magnetic topological insulators. I shall present a number of proposed new materials for topological insulators and superconductors, and discuss their potential applications.
