The First Annual Africana Alumni Forum on Environmental Justice and Film Screening to include Leslie G. Fields, Esq., '82, Environmental Justice and Community Partnerships Director, Sierra Club, Leah Mahan,  '88, Producer, Director and Cinematographer " COME HELL OR HIGH WATER: The Battle for Turkey Creek", and Kennth L. Robinson, Ph.D. '01, Associate Professor and Community Development Specialist at Clemson University. 

COME HELL OR HIGH WATER: THE BATTLE FOR TURKEY CREEK (2013) is about a Mississippi Gulf Coast community, settled by former slaves, that has built powerful alliances to fight urban sprawl and industrial contamination — to protect the culture and natural environment that sustained eight generations.

This event is organized by the Africana Studies and Research Center and cosponsored by the Department of Science and Technology Studies and the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.
